How will you be charged for our services?

We will charge you for the time spent in providing our legal services to you and for any expenses (commonly called disbursements) incurred in doing so. We will charge fees based on an hourly rate calculated on a time cost basis of 6 minutes or alternatively, we will charge you a set fee depending on the work we undertake for you.


Depending on the service you require, we offer an hourly rate or a set fee. Our solicitors charge between $330 and $495 per hour (plus GST) depending on the solicitor’s experience. To keep costs to a minimum, our solicitors are assisted by our experienced paralegals and legal assistants. We do offer some services at a set fee. How much will you be charged?


Will you be charged for the initial consultation?

Yes. Each meeting is charged at the hourly rate for the attending solicitor. The attending solicitor will spend some time considering the matter prior to your meeting to enable them to offer you with legal advice.


Will you have to enter into a retainer with us?

Under the Legal Profession Uniform Law, we have an obligation to disclose our costs to you in writing where those costs will be more than $750 but will not exceed $3,000.  Where are our costs are estimated to be more than $750 but will not exceed $3,000 (not including GST and disbursements), we are obliged to forward you a Costs Disclosure Form. Where our costs are likely to exceed $3,000 (not including GST and disbursements) we are obliged to enter into a Client Engagement Agreement with you.  The Costs Disclosure Form and the Client Engagement Agreement set out how we will charge you, our estimated costs and the work we will undertake on your behalf.
