Business Strategy


General Commercial

Commercial Law is a short-hand expression for all of those areas of law that arise out of or in the course of normal business or commercial operations. We can assist you in respect to all of your commercial needs. We can review and prepare many types of legal documents from generic agreements to more bespoke agreements to suit your individual needs. We can also assist you in commercial negotiations with other parties. With a background in business and taxation law, Alex Granich can also offer you strategic advice to ensure you are successful in all of your commercial endeavours.


Litigation

Our approach to all matters involving disputes between our client and another party is to attempt to resolve the matter preferably without resorting to litigation.  Litigation can be lengthy and costly to clients. However, if litigation develops, we can assist you with the process of taking legal action. Court rules and procedures can be difficult to navigate and Brian Liau is particularly skilled at handling court-based disputes and preparing and managing client’s cases.


Insurance Law

We can assist you with all aspects of insurance law. From dealing with your insurance company who has failed to honour a policy, to advising on the appropriate insurance provisions that should be included in a commercial agreement. We are also able to assist with more complex matters related to insurance, including in respect to negligence, product liability, property damage and workplace accidents.


We can assists clients with the legal aspects of superannuation, including as part of a broader succession or estate planning exercise. We are also able to assist you with the decision of whether to establish a self-managed superannuation fund as well as the management of same. With Alex Granich’s specialist knowledge in this area, we can also assist in respect to claims and disputes which involve superannuation.

Superannuation


Alex Granich gained a Masters degree in taxation law from UWA in 1999. As a result, Alex has a very high level of tax law knowledge and brings an awareness of potential taxation issues in dealing with a range of other matters, including in the commercial, estate and succession planning areas. Alex can also offer general taxation advice to clients in these areas. If more specialised taxation advice is required, we can offer clients the benefit of our close association with specialists (both barristers and solicitors) in Western Australia and in Melbourne.

Taxation


We are able to assist clients regarding commercial and corporate structures, including trusts. A trust exists when a person or entity holds property or rights on behalf of and for the benefit of another person. There are many reasons why a person might create a trust, including for personal or business purposes or for the many tax incentives. Alex Granich is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and can offer specialist advice regarding establishing a trust or an existing trust. In addition, Alex can offer advice regarding the taxation, capital gains duty and duty issues generally in respect to trusts.
